“When a relationship takes away more than it should be giving then it’s time to go.”
I wrote this part in one of my recent blogs but I wasn’t able to elaborate it well.
We dive into relationships because it’s supposed to make us happier than we already are. Not because we want to be happy when we are sad or lonely.
My uncle and aunt dated 9 years (if I’m not mistaken) before they got married. His response when I asked him how he was able to maintain the same kind of love that long is unforgettable and has been my number one dating rule ever since. He said it’s simply because
“We fight but we do not dwell on it too long. We’re in a relationship because we want to be happy. If it doesn’t make you happy then why continue it?”

I hate to admit it but when I think about it now, maybe the only one complicating things for me is myself. I usually already have the answer, I know what I should be doing, but I am not brave enough to take action for it because I always consider what other people will feel about it.
We are always one decision away from a completely different life.
Choosing yourself is not bad. Self love doesn’t mean ME FIRST, but rather ME TOO.
Again, if it’s taking more than it should be giving then why are you staying there? A relationship that refuses to grow is not one that should be continued. If it drains you when it should be watering you then don’t you think it’s time to think twice about it?
Today, let’s challenge ourselves to live up to what we know is right. To what we know is true.
Our happiness shouldn’t depend on a partner only. We can be happy on our own, we should settle with ourselves before we decide to settle with someone else.
Yours, Yna.
